Adam01, so you think that is only in my that you call "cracy world" money can not buy anything, drugs can not buy anything, sex can not buy anything and you can not buy anything?
Do you not belive in love? Do you not think love can change everything?

MONICA, I need your help!
Please can you help me understand these lyrics?
They have been puzzling me for 20 years!
James Skullduggery lyrics
An earwig crawled into my ear
Made a meal of the wax and hairs
Phoned friends, had an insect party
But all I could hear was the bass drum drum
All I could hear was the bass drum drum
Now if you put your ear close you'll be able to hear
Not the sea shore noise of the shore sea shell
The clatter of plates
And the bronze of the bell
Going ding dong, ding dong, ding dong dong
Going out of my mind as they hollow my head
I'm floating in the air, but my body's in bed
The more they eat, the more I see
What is not, but just could be
You can hear them laughing in my head
You can hear them laughing in my head
Ha ha ha ha ha
Now they've eaten my memory, I can't recall
How the world used to be before
So a vision is the same as what is real
Depends upon the lighting, and how I feel
Ding dong, drum drum, ha ha ha ha ha
And then the music stopped
The musician went away
They'd eaten all my brain
The red and the grey
They all stack at home
Dug a tongue through my nose
Where my brain used to be
Now there's only a hole |

I do not think I can help you analyse this lyrics but I can tell you what I think. What I think this is about is from old stories or old culture where they group people after insects. Like some are butterflies, some are beatles, some are dragonflies and so on. On festivals you still can see that this exist and that they stil try to group people like this. I think anyway these insects (people) have party which is maybe in the beginning nice, but all this partys take a pice of youre brain. |

i dunno about anyone else but i always imagined a little ear thing with legs* (wearing a hairpiece) trundling along tim's shoulder and crawling into his ear with a knife, fork, bottle with a cork on that first line.
*much like those lips with legs, singing karaoke on that advert |

| When I listen to Skulldugggery, I have image of lying in bed with a high fever - you know how it is when you can hear your pulse throbbing in your ears - and the insect party is a sort of fever-induced weird dream brought on by this state. |

Ive never really been a fan of annie lennox, that more to do with lack of knowledge than listening to it and not liking it though. Im a fan of kate bush, tori amos, pj harvey and some of the new mob like laura marling though, so yeah maybe its time for a bit of AL.
hmmm songs that really mean something....i could ponder on this for hours but im gonna go with:-
Michael Jackson - Black or white.
such an important message in this song - i love the opening line, even though it makes absolutely no sense to me at all:-
"I took my baby on a saturday bang". -
Truly inspirational, although not to be taken literally, perhaps thats why he got in trouble - typical try and convey such an important message, and the media home in on the first line of the song.
anyway, sarcasm friday has now ended, so ill say have a good weekend to all

I have not find Vic Chesnutt - In my way, yes on internet. Lovely song. It made me cry like a child few times.
"Do you think it makes a difference?
I say yes
Taking my time
Working on lines
Fingers in clay
Everyday
Head in the clouds
Moving my mouth
Spreading the grout
That's holding it down
Do you think it makes a difference?
I say yes in my life yes
Cuddling up
Declarations of love
Squeeze and a hug
A kiss and a rub
Faces opposed
Eyelids closed
Nuzzling nose
Like eskimos
Don't'cha' feel silly?
I say no with my love no
I never ever thought
I'd ever have a life like this
I never dreamed
I'd be alive
I never considered
Such as these surroundings
Effectually pulling it off
Watching the cops go by
Seeing a falcon fly
Reading a history book
Wetting a tiny hook
Driving fast all night
Bursting into song at first light
Sharing breakfast from one plate
Holding hands over loved ones graves
Do you think you deserve it
I say yes in my way yes" |
