This has happened to me times:-
New born by muse - when the guitar riff kicks in and the crowd looses themselves - can be painful.
james - sometimes (audience singing) then kicking it to laid and the venue shook to its foundations - really bugs me when my old man says "it was packed to the rafters" - well it was.
Shed 7 - chasing rainbows - reading festival god knows how long a go - the entire audience joined in with there arms in the air
libertines - up the bracket - Im not a patriotic person, but it was at the astroia in london and this was the set opener. Someone was standing next to me with a union jack flag, and as they song kicked in i remember the place erupting and the person with the flag went flying forward. I dont necessarily attach the flag to feeling proud or anything but it was the symbol for a bloody insane moment. Sweat and beer are always a treat!!!
david ford - performing state of the union in a tiny venue in camden. The way he records the instruments as he goes along on the looping machine is majestic to say the least - by layering his vocals in just built up the intensity.
Im sure there are a few more - an embarrasing one is when my sister made me watch 'Sister act' as a kid. THe bit when they sing to the pope - am i really saying this.
anyway, have a good weekend folks and i look forward to reading your stories!
bonjour

when James opened their Sept. 08 gig at The Stone Pony in N.J. with Dream Thrum and Five-O, it was fantastic.
Don't Wait That Long at the 9:30 club two nights before was awesome as well. |

Sept 2008 - Dream Thrum at the Vic in Chicago.
I had not heard them live since 1994 and I could almost not believe my ears. |

Hi Mr. Fish / Le Fish,
For me it has to be James playing Sound live . . .
I always end up such an emotional wreck every time they play it and I remember once in Manchester, there was a guy stood at the side, who was in the exact same state as me !!!!
I often have to watch it again, to appreciate things better, a few days later on Youtube at home . . so that I can study the performance in peace - lol . . .
Bonjour to you too ! |

I'd have to agree with Sound, and probably Lullaby. Mind you, Stutter always gets me because it's an oldie but sounds more alive than what most of these upstarts can pull together.
For other artists, I'd say:
I Am Kloot - No Fear of Falling
Elbow - Newborn and Scattered Black and Whites
Midlake - Bandits
Band of Horses - No-One's Gonna Love You |

I 100% agree. I love the way my ears ring and floor jumps with 3 people on the drums...... |

| I'll say Sound, Homeboy, OTGY, Five-O and also Tim's songs from his solo show were brilliant performances. I haven't been to the Night Before recent gigs though, i'm hoping they will play a few at bingley fest. |

I wouldnt laugh at something like that. Music has a huge affect on people. And James are definately one of those bands that leaves you feeling elated and i can remember at one gig the only word i could say was "oh". Cause i was so stunned by the reaction of the audience and how they hung on tims every word and the feeling of the performance. When went to see REM years a go they kicked into the chorus of 'MAN ON THE MOON' - all the lights come on and the whole place was jumping, that was an 'oh' moment. |

Of course the first time I saw James in 1992. A very special moment was when we all sat down at sit down. They play at the same arena the day after because the band that should play could not. The same uplifting feeling came to me this second day also and when they played sit down, we all sat down.
2010 at the versus cancer in Manchester when Tim Booth actually look down to me when he was holding the hand of a man in front of me. I was paralysed. |
