You "hope" we enjoy it?.... Come on TimL, you "know" we will enjoy it. I'm enjoying it right now (right now right now right now).
It's ABSOLUTEly fantastic of you to post it.
2 questions though....
Firstly, why is the setlist on the link not in the same order as what you actually hear?.That's just untidy!. It should read GAWI, Tomorrow, OTGY, Sometimes and then Laid.
And secondly, how cool is Geoff Lloyd?. Him and Tim should have their own show. :-D
Also, this is so much BETTER than the mention that James got online from the Guardian newspaper.... http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2010/jul/18/latitude-festival-review
"James were a concession to the thirty- and fortysomething demographic, but Tim Booth surely scared the kiddies with his shiny pate and goatee"..... WTF!!!... I'm guessing that Tim must have scared/unsettled/rocked the reviewer?.... yes?...... nevermind, give it a week and this reviewer will probably be on here seeking out more James. :-) |

that guardian comment is utter rubbish
i'm 21 and absolutely love james - been to see them 4 times in my few years as a fan
admittedly - i have many fewer years and many more teeth than a lot of the other fans there but great music is great music! |

This is more like it :
James back catalogue entertains Latitude
EMMA LEE
Boasting a huge back catalogue of hits spanning 20 years, Mancunian indie legends James were the perfect candidates to get the Latitude party well and truly started on Saturday.
Fronted by singer Tim Booth, they formed nearly 30 years ago, and found mainstream fame in the early 90s, when the music press set its compass for the north and created the “Madchester” movement.
And they're still going strong.
Great writing stands the test of time - and James' songs are still as exciting when you're stood in a field in 2010 as they were in an indie disco in 1992.
The opening chords of the classic, Sit Down, still send a shiver down the spine.
And Tim Booth, famed for his crazy dancing, is as agile as ever.
They're not just on the nostalgia circuit either - they're still writing and recording and debuted some new material.
It's hardly surprising that with so many songs at their disposal they ran over their allotted time - they departed the stage when the following band on the bill, the Maccabees, were due to be going on.
But they still managed to pack in the haunting Sound, Ring the Bell and Tomorrow. For the finale, Laid, they were joined by their supporters who had been watching from the wings. But thinking about it, they barely touched their enormous back catalogue.
Hopefully they'll return to Latitude - and for longer next time.

I was there about 6 rows from the front. Am listening now to the recording on absolute radio and chills are running up and down inside me. This is the type of music and venue where magic happens - those peak moments in life.
When the band played Sit Down, Tim came down into the crowd and there was a huge surge forward. I took a little video with my camera for posterity but completely lost consciousness of it as I wrapped myself in the moment. Just fantastic.
Keep on keeping on, guys - the music and the sentiment behind it continues to inspire me and many others.
Love,
Neil |
